The Art and Design of Photography Class

Do you want to capture visually striking photographs that engage the mind, tease the eye? Capture photos people want to look at? and buy?

I?m sure we all know by now that the secret to being an excellent photographer isn?t having a better camera. A high-end camera might help make a great photo better, but it won?t make an ordinary photo into art worthy of anyone?s walls.

Have you tried to improve your photography on your own but aren?t seeing the results you hoped for? That’s ok! This class is for any photographer, at any level, with any camera who wants to take their photography to the next level.

We teach you the theory, we show you examples, and you do it. You?ll cement your new skills by taking photographs and?then we, along with your peers, will review?them in a structured, positive, and effective way.

This class is broken up into three parts:

First we discover together what it means to be an artist. How to trigger?creativity and become creative, even if we don?t feel inspired in the moment. You’ll learn:

  • Techniques to combat ?writers block? and how to find inspiration when you lack it.
  • You?ll learn how to use the elements and principles of design to achieve your artistic goals.

Secondly, we review your work and discuss which components of your image contributed towards your vision, along with techniques of how to further convey your message, emotion or goal. This is truly a unique experience as while your photographs are?evaluated,?you will have the opportunity to observe genuine reactions from your peers about your work.

Lastly, each class you will learn new concepts that are transferrable to other art forms, such as painting, sculpting, photography, etc. You will learn:

  • To apply the principles and elements of design,
  • Add emotional impact,
  • Tell a story or convey a mood or message.

You will learn how to give your photos more ?life? and how to create drama and impact.

When you’re finished this class you will be able to ?see? in a different way. You’ll begin to see the ordinary through a creative lens and understand how to turn it into the extraordinary.

Whether you?re a portrait photographer, landscape photographer or somewhere in between, you will see your photos as more valuable, strong and creative. Don’t just copy. Create!
